Troll Lampworked, Artisan Glass Beads by Elle Harbison

Announcement    Eleven years ago, I discovered the wonders of Italian soft glass bead making at the Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, WA and began using a surface mix torch to melt, shape and execute my ideas.

The complexity of my beads has evolved with experience and availability of new tools, materials and colors. When working with metal foils, leaf and wire, it’s exciting to create new reactions in glass. It’s a joy to work on new designs and styles.

Using the finest quality Italian, German and American glass, every bead I make is properly kiln annealed for strength and durability. After they have been annealed, they are thoroughly cleaned and inspected.

I've have sold many pieces of art in the Pratt holiday sale, Red Ribbon and Reindeer Holiday Sale, the Kirkland (WA) Art Center Store, the Best of the Northwest Fall show in 2013, 2014, Spring 2015 and make a substantial donation of my glass creations to the Pratt Fine Art Auction every year.

I am a member of International Society of Glass Beads (ISGB) and have been lampworking for about 11 years, hopefully creating enchanting glass art meticulously crafted.

A tutorial I wrote on making glass beads to fit functionable objects (canapé knives, letter openers, etc.) was published in the ISGB magazine, Glass Bead Evolution. I teach classes in bead making to all ages at the Pratt Fine Art Center.

Melting glass, playing with fire, and creating unique pieces of glass art, that's my happy place.
